“As above, so below. As within, so without. As universe, so spirit.”

We have reached a point in modern healthcare where something is gravely missing. The push toward integrative medicine and the influx of mind body and soul awareness has helped but the mainstream care that people are receiving is still lacking. To a great degree it is lacking in both preventative care and a connection to higher levels of consciousness, to spirit. It tends to see people as mechanical bodies and minds and not as multi-dimensional beings living within a holistic context, between earth and the cosmos.
What I have come to understand about the main paradigm of healthcare that we live in, is that a single causal influence, a disease for example, must be found and diagnosed in order to move forward with treatment. Here the potential to treat becomes limited. Little to no emphasis is placed on deeply knowing who a person is; their lifestyle, choices, constitution, and the environment in which they live. As a result, there is a great disconnect between these realities and their influence on health and wellness outcomes.
We create divisions of care and refer people to specialists in countless fields and these divisions further reinforce a disconnect between the mind, body, soul and spirit levels of existence. People are not encouraged to listen to or connect with their higher wisdom and many have trouble advocating for themselves and being listened to compassionately. When given the chance, many of us already know what we need to do to be healthier and happier but we just lack the tools or support to get there.
As a result of this structure, most symptoms eventually progress to the level of a disease and thus can be diagnosed and treated. But at this point all the potential for preventative care and building a connection to the deeper knowing within self, is lost. What I hope to achieve with Golden Lotus Healing Arts is to fill in the gaps of the modern healthcare model. It’s not that western medicine is all bad, it serves a great purpose and has evolved for a reason, but it is not focused on preventing disease or helping people evolve to greater levels of their potential.
This is what Chinese medicine and spirit medicine have the potential to do. To illuminate the fact that we are multi-dimensional beings and should be treated as such. To educate people on how we are connected and influenced by our interior worlds (mind, emotions, spirit) and exterior worlds (body, environment, relationships and the cosmos) simultaneously. And to empower people to heal themselves, prevent disease and reach higher levels of awareness and connection to the world around them. To illuminate, educate and empower, a Golden Lotus mantra for health and wellness.
